We
have visited Turkey about 12 times with our car, much the same
as Greece. The big difference this time will be that we are travelling
in wintertime, especially in the North East of Turkey winters
can be very cold. Turkey has lots to offer on nature, but also
on cultural history.
Our
special attention goes to the alpine flora, much of which can
be seen in the fabulous mountain regions. The eastern parts of
Turkey are reasonably unspoilt and there are lots of discoveries
to be made. The political situation has improved in this region, the
Kurdish resistance has stopped their armed struggle and the state
of emergency was lifted from early 2002.
It
always is a pleasure to meet the hospitality of the local people.
On Turkey we will be organising "tag along" trips concentrating
on alpine flora and other aspects as well.
